March 2021 Economic Impact Payment

We know you may be anxiously waiting on an economic impact payment and we’re dedicated to making banking easy and convenient. Here’s what we know:

The IRS is expected to release the first payments as soon as Wednesday, March 17th. However, it could take several weeks for all payments to be dispersed. The process is completely controlled by the IRS and we recommend visiting the IRS website www.irs.gov and using their Get My Payment tracker to check eligibility, amounts, and status of payments at www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment.

Unfortunately, Southern Bank does not have specific information as to how or when your payment may arrive.

We are experiencing high call volumes and encourage you to use our online or mobile banking to check your account for the most up-to-date transactions.

Additional tips:

Do you receive government checks electronically?

If so, we recommend setting up a deposit alert from within online banking to be notified of deposits. You can use the Alerts tab to setup your account notifications.

Do you receive government checks by mail?

If so, you can easily deposit your check from our mobile app with Mobile Deposit – anytime, anywhere.

Expect Increased Fraudulent Attempts

Please be aware that there will be an increased risk of scams, ID theft, and attempts to steal your banking information during this time. Remember, Southern Bank will never call and ask for your sensitive information like Access ID, Password, Account Number, or Personal Identification Number (PIN). We may ask you to verify identifying information when you call - your date of birth or the last four digits of your social security number. We will never ask for your full social security number. For your safety, never share this information with anyone at any time.
