Southern Bank Names Community Bank Manager


(June 22, 2016 – Bald Knob, AR) Southern Bank recently announced John McFarland has been named as Community Bank Manager for Southern Bank in Bald Knob.

McFarland brings experience in both agriculture and commercial lending to his new role. He holds a Master of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Business from Arkansas State University.

Prior to joining the Southern Bank team, McFarland was the Vice President and Branch Manager at Farm Credit of Western Arkansas in Texarkana. He was also a Loan Officer for Farm Credit Midsouth in Wynne, Arkansas. Prior to that, McFarland served as the County Extension Agent for the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in Jackson, Craighead, Crittenden, and Logan counties.

“It is a real honor to be a part of the Southern Bank team. I am looking forward to serving the citizens of Bald Knob and the surrounding area,” stated McFarland.

McFarland was involved in and a Graduate of the New Vision Newport Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. He is also an avid hunter, fisherman, and Arkansas Razorback fan.
